This is an Alvin Ailey classic. Gospel music choreographed by the man himself way back in the 1960s. I've seen this live many times. Every single time the audience is on their feet & clapping hands at the end. It's like being in a church with a great gospel choir! Unreal spiritual energy.

I'm happier than before I started taking Congolese, Hip-Hop and Samba. Making time for classes that I'm addicted to, it helps me make space in my life for fun. Dancing restores my soul, and as an amateur dancer I'm grateful for the space to explore new styles of movement and get a good workout without pressure or competition. And my butt looks better.

Characters from all walks of life come together in a new collection of vignettes by Judith Jamison examining the joys and complications of human relationships. Original jazz compositions by the musical iconoclast Eric Lewis and costumes by the award-winning designer Paul Tazewell are inspired by a series of drawings by Jamison that depict these characters ordinary and sometimes extraordinary lives.

Judith Jamisons stunning, Emmy Award-winning 1993 tribute to Alvin Ailey uses explosive, full company dances and quiet solos to illuminate Aileys humanity and the dancers unique qualities. Narrative recollections from dancers are arranged by the multi-talented actor/playwright Anna Deavere Smith, who appeared live onstage with the Company at select performances.
