Aug 4, 2009 - A possible explanation about patriotism in the US: we're a nation of immigrants. Many people came from nations where they had nowhere near the freedom they do in the US. The chances of receiving a fair trial are much greater here than some of the home countries of immigrants. Thus, our freedom is not taken lightly. Of course, the UK is another great nation where people have tremendous freedom. The difference is that your ancestors have experienced it for centuries.

Jul 6, 2009 - It's all to do with Socialism. In the US socialism was evil, but in the UK it was much more prominent. Socialism generally leads to a lack of pariotism due it's hardline on Government policy.
