Feb 26, 2010 - You should watch Derren Brown "an evening of wonders" where he perform The Oracle Act. Where he "reads" a random man's mind in the audience and correctly guesses that he was "wondering whether or not to shave his scrotum" which the man, mortified, admitted was true. He also reads another woman's man and asks her if she is thinking about whether or not to dye her hair, which she was, and then politely asked her to remove the thought from her head. Powerful manipulation, yes. Psychic, no.

Feb 26, 2010 - Nah man I'm not missing the point I'm objecting to it. We can and have explained, using the scientific method, pretty much every trick out there including "mediumship." There is nothing special or even queer about the methods that they use. They can be done by just about anyone given adequate training and requires no other abilities than the ability to speak, be observant, and make accurate inferences about those observations based on prior knowledge and quite frequently using statistics.

Brown displays proof, evidence in what he says, as does Dawkins, where is the proof that Psychic ability is real? Not one person to date can prove it.

Feb 25, 2010 - No, Derren does not believe in the supernatural and of course he would admit that we don't know everything. Although that if then statement about "nothing is paranormal, we just can't explain it" is false. Every trick out there has an explanation or could be figured out. James Randi showed us how to tease them out, look up Project Alpha. In fact, email or call the Randi Foundation and tell them about your friend and ask how the "medium" could have known what they did.
